The heart is a lonely hunter because it is restless until it rests in God.
— Karl Rahner, S.J., from "The Need and Blessing of Prayer"

At the heart of the Christian life is the life of prayer. We pray privately, in community, and in our daily lives and activities wherever we find ourselves. We know that God is ever present to us in our waking and in our sleeping. And we know that by the power of the Holy Spirit, God hears our prayers and draws near to us when we simply invite God into our lives. God hears and responds to our prayer in powerful and mysterious way. Prayer sustains, draws us closer to God, strengthens our faith, and unites us to the community of faith both at home and throughout the world.

At St. John’s, prayer is offered daily for the needs of the world, the Church, the local community, personal and familial matters, and anything else under the sun that we wish to offer to God, including our deepest joys and our most difficult struggles.

Here, you are invited to send your prayer requests to St. John’s where they will be offered up daily and on Sunday worship at the altar of the Lord. You may remain confidential, and you may share as much or as little as you feel comfortable in your prayer requests. But know that your prayers will be offered to God. We pray for one another, even when we are unable to pray for ourselves.

I pray that this may be a comfort and a resource to you in your daily walk of faith.

Faithfully in Christ,

Fr. Lucas Grubbs+
